Almost every conversation we have about reusable theatre caps reaches the same point. Everyone agrees the case is sound, then someone asks where the money comes from this year. This month we have an answer to that, along with a practical solution to the other question we are always asked: where do the hats actually live?

Lease your badge hats, with no upfront payment
We can now offer Theatre Badge Hats on a 36 month lease. A finance provider pays for your kit, and your organisation pays a fixed monthly charge, in the same way as any other equipment agreement. There is no deposit and no capital purchase to get approved.
That matters because the barrier has never really been the running cost. It is finding capital in the same year that the disposable spend is already sitting in the budget. With a lease, the disposable spend stops as the monthly charge starts, so for most departments the switch is cost positive from month one.
Hats, name and role badges and storage can all sit within the same agreement, and the framework direct award route is available.

What it looks like
Three worked examples, based on five hats per person, badges for staff plus 20% for students, temporary staff and visitors, and three disposable caps per person per day at 6p including waste disposal. All figures exclude VAT.

Somewhere for the hats to live
Reusable headwear only works when it is obvious where to collect a clean hat and return a used one. Our storage units give every department exactly that, with clean hats and badges on top and baskets below for used hats waiting to go to the laundry.
We recommend one unit per department. Main Theatres, Maternity and Eye Theatres, for example, would need three. They are mobile, wipeable and designed to sit in changing areas alongside your existing scrub storage.
Storage can be included in your lease, so there is no separate purchase to arrange.

Updated savings calculator
Our calculator now asks whether you would like to lease or buy, then shows the figures for your own department. Choose lease and it gives you a monthly cost and a monthly saving, with storage included if you need it. Choose buy and you get the one-off cost and a quarterly rollout plan.
